UltraViolet is hiring a full-time Deputy Executive Director. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader, expert strategist, and high-level team manager to serve as a partner to the Executive Director, overseeing programs and strategy, and a team of dedicated changemakers as the organization moves into a new strategic and structural direction, integrating cultural organizing to engage and activate new audiences.

The right candidate will be committed to leading and growing an exceptional team to develop, execute, and evaluate a strategy for telling a new story about intersectional feminism, bringing new people into the gender justice movement, and advancing a legislative and corporate policy agenda to bring that story to life.

As the Deputy Executive Director, you will be responsible for managing a team of campaigns and communications staff in our virtual office to meet long-term campaign goals and to leverage high-profile moments to build a movement. Working in partnership with the Executive Director, you and your team will advance UltraViolet’s mission and vision by running high-impact campaigns, advocating for progressive policy change, developing compelling messages and content for digital audiences, executing a sophisticated digital persuasion strategy, building strong partnerships with advocacy groups and influencers, and managing a multi-million member email list.

These are the required skills for this position:

  • 8+ years of experience driving impactful programs and projects to drive culture change and policy change
  • 4+ years of experience managing staff and teams, specifically through periods of growth and transition. Experience managing in a virtual office is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of how digital media, strategic communications, and creative content  can be used to drive cultural and political impact, and experience doing so
  • A deep understanding of how systems of racial and gender oppression overlap and manifest
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff and growing teams to make real social change impact
  • Experience cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with allies and partners

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Relationships with content creators and cultural influencers
  • Experience at the intersection of art and activism
  • Experience using creative content to drive engagement
  • Experience developing and managing effective systems and tools to track progress and demonstrate impact

You will thrive in this role if you are someone who:

  • Is passionate, mission-driven, and thrives on meeting ambitious programmatic goals
  • Can lead, coach, develop, and retain a high-performing team
  • Has excellent interpersonal and project management skills
  • Is action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative
  • Works effectively and intentionally in collaboration with diverse people
  • Is comfortable and confident working in a virtual office and digital environment

Perks of working for UltraViolet:

  • Full health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and generous coverage for your family
  • Entirely virtual office
  • Four to six weeks of vacation and 12 paid holidays
  • 401(k) with a 5% employer contribution
  • Sixteen weeks of parental leave, plus support for childcare for work-related events and travel
  • A team with a top-notch GIF game and a #pets Slack channel that gets surprise presents (sometimes purple cakes!) and knows how to have fun while getting a lot done in a low-ego environment!

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $130,000, plus a home office stipend based on the cost of living in your location.
